  Yes, you are appreciated!

This is from the CART Ministries Newsletter Summer 2000 From The Heart

Now the pace picks up. Racing or open tests every week. Weeks run into months as people are away from home for long periods of time. The intensity that everyone associated with CART experiences during the next couple of months is unrivaled in other occupations. In the midst of all of this there is a group that I must recognize for their diligence, consistency, and dedication. That group is our track observers and corner workers. During the past year I have come to appreciate Irene Chambers and her great group of volunteers who are responsible for aiding in the safety and integrity of each race. I see people who travel great distances, take vacation time from work, and are rewarded with the opportunity to stand in the hot sun all day. While observing a race may at times be exciting, the same cannot be said for the hours of testing that comprise the first two days of each race weekend. The dedication of these volunteers combined with their professionalism is a high tribute to the sport they love. I am proud that I am able to spend a few minutes with them each race weekend to enjoy the camaraderie and sense of mission that they share. CART is fortunate to have such a dedicated group assuring the quality of our races.

AND

This is an excerpt of an article from SCCA SportsCar Givers "To all of our volunteers, it is time for you to receive thanks for what you do!"

Since this is the December issue, I wanted this President's Corner to tie into the holidays. I could think of no better way than to talk about our SCCA volunteers. It seems as though the SCCA volunteers are in the Christmas spirit 12 months of the year.

  • They give to the SCCA Corporate off

  • They give to the local racetracks

  • They give to the Regions of which they are members (and often times, to Regions of which they are not members)
  • They give to CART, IRL, Formula 1, NASCAR and others
  • They give to SCCA Pro Racing, Solo and Rally
  • They give to the SCCA members
  • They give to local charities
  • They give their time, dedication, passion and expense so that others can continue to enjoy their sport.

To all of our volunteers, it is time for you to receive thanks for what you do!

I have not heard from the other sanctioning bodies, but I can tell you in all sincerity, thank you from the entire SCCA team. We couldn't do it without you!
