Letters from Our Friends

This is an excerpt of an article from the CART Ministries Newsletter Summer 2000

 From The Heart

Now the pace picks up. Racing or open tests every week. Weeks run into months as people are away from home for long periods of time. The intensity that everyone associated with CART experiences during the next couple of months is unrivaled in other occupations. In the midst of all of this there is a group that I must recognize for their diligence, consistency, and dedication. That group is our track observers and corner workers. During the past year I have come to appreciate Irene Chambers and her great group of volunteers who are responsible for aiding in the safety and integrity of each race. I see people who travel great distances, take vacation time from work, and are rewarded with the opportunity to stand in the hot sun all day. While observing a race may at times be exciting, the same cannot be said for the hours of testing that comprise the first two days of each race weekend. The dedication of these volunteers combined with their professionalism is a high tribute to the sport they love. I am proud that I am able to spend a few minutes with them each race weekend to enjoy the camaraderie and sense of mission that they share. CART is fortunate to have such a dedicated group assuring the quality of our races.
